beat every difficulty but living hell lol. curious as to if you actually beat it yourself, seems impossible and as with the whole game it seems a little random and almost lacks skill some attempts, especially the last part with luigi, sometimes it feels impossible to jump over him sometimes he just charges you head on with no way of being able to react. feels a little unfair sometimes or corny but i do appreciate the usage of the SNES sprites and it wasn't unenjoyable. i just cant see myself beating living hell with skill involved id have to get super lucky.

John4eyes responds:

Cant beat living hell either man, its just a joke gamemode. Yeah the game is pretty unfair sometimes, its meant to be that way lol, im thinking about a sequel with more skill involved.

visuals are cool, music is nice, the control feels solid. overall definitely needs tweaking, i would suggest adding some sort of indicator when punching, even a sound effect to confirm that you landed a hit. was hard to tell if the game was even working properly at first.

the tutorial boss was unkillable, don't know if thats intended or what. also the doors you unlock on the only real level feel odd that they only open when youre near them. perhaps if you cant figure out a way to keep them open or whatever, maybe you could even just add a visual indicator that they are unlocked (maybe i missed it) it was intuitive enough that i figured it out and beat the level but those are my thoughts. would like to see more.

oh yeah grabbing the cassette too was weird it almost didnt work i had to fiddle around with where my guy was standing in order to pick it up, i think i got a gameboy at some point too which i have no idea what it did. also after dashing or something my guy was stuck not being able to move down but i simply dashed and the bug resolved itself.

Gidman123 responds:

So, about the punching thing, I guess you just didn't see the mouse wheel thing in the tutorial? I intentionally made the tutorial boss unable to be killed via punching, and I could improve the way you pick up the cassette. The doors only open when you go near them so enemies can't crawl out of a new place the second you get the card, and I did add an indicator on the hud, idk if it was clear enough though. Idk what you mean by grabbing a GameBoy, I don't even think I drew a sprite for that. Also, I'd like to know more about the dashing bug, reach out to me on Discord if you can (gidman123). Thanks for the feedback btw

i cant even start the game, restarted at least 5 times. awful

OfficialLieDetector responds:

Yeah, it really is.

why not program a restart button if youre going to have it say click the green flag to restart?

updated response: this game isnt bad i keep wanting to play and try again but having to restart the page feels silly, not to mention the proportions of your players hitbox (skill issue?). i got over 100 points once and didnt use my new moves but idk.

ive also never played vampire survivors or whatever but from the start and what ive seen of VS it seems like its trying to rip off it a little but like i said never played lol. good effort though man. simple things like a restart button and maybe not layering the sound effects so much (maybe just make them shorter, the variety is nice but majority of the time its a mess of mulitple voice clips) could make this a lot more enjoyable

3/30/25 - game seems more broken than it did before update lol. when the screen gets smaller my hat stays bigger and is also my hitbox which makes it tricky, just realized now that holding space makes it so the magic circles the opposite way lol, definitely nice to have some control on it (dont know if that was always the case). greatly appreciate the restart ability though! but game also can get stuck somehow and enemies were still spawning very slowly and i still saw boss hp on the screen. (died mid boss fight)

ZaydenTheGuy responds:

okay i didn't think anyone was actually gonna play this, uhh i will add the restart button now :))
thanks for playing
edit: okay i added the restart button, the sound effects are kind of a problem tho, but i will work on them
edit 2: i fixed the hitboxes and used it as an excuse to add hats :D
edit 3: crap i forgot that everything shrinks during the spider boss. it should work now :)

i been trolled!

Ultrawave2000 responds:

Well that's what happens if you collect all coins. You get trolled! LOL

makes me think of stick avalanche, which was a fun multiplayer game. I played this game alone but added player 2 so i could use WASD instead of arrow keys, this game is definitely more like a stick avalanche 1 than a stick avalanche 2, not lots of depth or anything, but still playable. im sure if i had a friend to play with it d be more fun than playing alone.

reply: i havent played stick avalanche in forever, went back to it and it was definitely not the greatest comparison but the element of gameplay and depth i would think still holds somewhat true. it gets harder and you're really just chasing a high score. i tried to play this again to see how far i could get, i got a score of 62 and there were 5 wolf heads on screen.

the character moves really slow and the game feels like it will inevitably reach an unplayable level of difficulty, almost leaving me with no desire to keep trying as I feel defeated before I even start.

as any game with a hi-score im sure if i had someones real score to try to overcome then I would definitely have that little bit of fuel to keep playing and keep trying for a harder score. keep at it! i hope i have left a positive comment on your game :)

3/30/25 - love the increased speed and record tracking is nice :3

maratismodest responds:

Thanks a lot for the feedback!
The game doesn't catch stars from the sky, but anyway)
That's true, playing with someone is always more fun)
P.S. I added the records (top 5 on left top corner in start menu)

unique and very random. i couldn't get past the 4th enemy it seemed there was no way to not take damage. money has no purpose yet i guess either but cool idea, keep at it.

edit: ill have to check it out again!

Doodslr responds:

Wait, haven't you seen the shop? It's actually accessible through the map!

Caenor responds:

I assume you're talking about David, he's very hard to beat without the power ups from the shop mainly because you can't heal, I recommend pressing M while freeroaming to open up the map and go to the shop, buy some power ups so you can beat him

--I beat the last level-- i am a baby -- thanks for making this game --

Fun game! Sounds great and the gameplay is addicting with a level of skill mastery for the true gamers... I was not one of those true gamers. I tried to beat all the levels but the last one really pushed me to my limits, I was not able to overcome it and I felt very disappointed in myself. Maybe one day I will be able to beat the final level. Played the game itself for at least an hour or two straight, got from start to finish (without completion).

==original review i left after having to give up on the last level :(==

getting the speed boosts is very tricky, the short burst of speed thats followed by slowing down immediately is tricky to get into a rhythm with too especially when it seems like you need to be playing perfectly to even get them in the first place. maybe i just suck

the ability to restart faster would be nice especially considering how much the bonus level asks of the player. i tried to beat it but im not a tasbot i guess. the very end is very cruel too as you get almost no time to react to anything coming your way and the computers that are so tuned up have a really big advantage over you.

i feel like being in the middle of it all makes it trickier too but its almost just like a mess of moving things at different speeds and then you have all the sounds jumbled together. it was fun but what seems to be the last level, turned a good experience into a not so enjoyable one. maybe i just suck and cant beat it. i will likely try to beat it in the future

ILikeBread7 responds:

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you seem to have mostly liked my game.

Yeah, the speed boosts aren't intended to be something you get all the time. The intent was for there to be some risk associated with trying to get the boost, so you can make a choice to either go for it and risk running into an obstacle, or play it safe, jump well ahead of the obstacle and give up on the boost. The cpus are also supposed to be tuned in a way that you shouldn't need to get every (or even most) boosts to win the race.

There's also a strategic element there where you can take more risks at the beginning of the race when crashing and restarting loses you less (and also there's more time to see the obstacles coming making it easier to react) to build up a lead early on, and play safer near the end if you manage to build up that lead (and there's less time to react, so the focus should be on just avoiding the obstacles instead of getting the boosts).

I guess maybe I should communicate this better to the player? Or maybe it is just too hard.
It would be nice to hear if this information can help you beat the final level. It would help me figure out how to improve the game.

As for the ability to restart, if you click on the pause icon in the top right corner of the screen (or press escape on the keyboard or right click anywhere) you open a pause menu from which you can restart. Have you tried that or did that still seem too slow?

And yes, that is the last level.
I put the player in the middle for aesthetics, not to make it harder, but I can see how it can make it hard to focus. Same with all the sounds playing together. Thanks for pointing that out, I might need to rethink those parts.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback! I'm trying to improve my game design skills, so that's very valuable to me :)

high score 209, had a bunch of caps but i opened a new tab thinking itd pause but then i died (i was trying to turn on some music cuz this game has none)

yukonmakesgames responds:

aww that sucks sorry dude

i dont know man... i could spend more time trying to figure this game out but it feels very rough

i got past the first part with the doors and then it turned into a sidescroller and then nothing made sense, and theres no checkpoints so I don't want to keep doing the first part to figure out how the heck to pass the next one. sorry man

JeiArrShi responds:

That's ok. Guess I should've explained in this game first that approaching the enemy would put you in a sidescroller battle. Sorry that you couldn't go through the whole demo :(

Thx 4 playing it, tho, as well as giving me feedback. I appreciate it ^w^
